May I post photos like these here if not where is the best forum to do so with high volumes of reactions and most importantly replies. This one I've posted here everyone is the most rarest of any newly discovered photo of it's kind.. as many out there already know the Smithsonian in D.C is currently holding the only Thomas Lincoln photo known in existence , which is most definitely a very very rare Lincoln artifact .. Up till now. , because I have just trumped that one . I to now own o e of Thomas Lincoln without doubt what so ever .. what could it possibly be worth ?

I would have to disagree that this is him or at least an original. He died in 1851 before CDV's were invented and the stamp is from the 1870's
So sry to have to correct you dear sir but cdvs wer first introduced in 1851 and the stamp photo as clearly used to s nd the photo to someone and this particular one was introduced in1861 ...sir ..

Can you please share where you acquired this and what shop may have sold this to you?
Where I'm from once a year they have what we call the 127 yard sale it stretches for hundreds of miles . I love anything old and antique especially old books postal stamps and definitely furniture.and incredibly I found it with few other nesting safe in a very old book I had bought. Without a doubt am super rare find ..

This one is Smithsonians only one any
One knows of thus far . Thomas was born cleft lipped, along with fingers and hands with deformities. An comparing one with the other he's clearly older in mine but most certainly same cleft scar on upper lip and same deformed fingers an hands ..

Can you provide evidence of an earlier stamp and cdv information that confirms your statement please? The stamp is a proprietary stamp that matches the one I've shown. Many cdv searches also suggest 1854 as a year that they show up. Looking at your image I also see his fingers are not disfigured. In the Smithsonian one of his fingers is clearly shorter than his ring finger but your image has the pointer and ring at nearly the same length

Check Eugenes accomplishments concerning the cvd photo process. My stamp is hand cancelled in 1861
Far as it being Thomas Lincoln. It's hards fact the phot comparisons speak for their selfs in high volumes. Plain and simple . I have him Dead on. Just like to have some sort idea what it's possibly worth .. can't find any info on the Smithsonian one on it's value .

Thank you, I'm still finding no evidence of 1851 as a start to cdv as you mention. This would still be a copy though with a 10 year old stamp wouldn't it? Died in 1851 with a 1861 stamp? The back design would also suggest a post war manufacture I believe. Still the stamp only appears as 1870's. Please provide the close up of the 61 date. I would like to learn. Perhaps call the museum or relic dealers to evaluate a price

How is there no time for lessons when you have come here yourself asking for a lesson of its value? We teach and share our knowledge here with everyone. I've only asked for close up photos and a conversation on what I've found as far as dates not adding up. It would make more sense to me that prior to dying in 1851 this image would have been a daguerreotype instead. Everything I find says CDV's in 1854

Besides it's no cdv it's a wet plate photo... came before cdvs .. true story .. look some what a like , but most certainly not .. that's all I'm saying bout it .. just kno I have it is what is.. no bashing nor trying discrediting is gonna change that .. it's a incredible find , a true historical treasure indefinitely..
