I post this here in deeply concern as to why a soldier in my town of Greenville currently has never had a tombstone. He is listed on findagrave.com his wife has a tombstone at the American Spinning Cemetery but I worry he is buried at this cemetery but has nothing. I first came across Mr. Allison's name when I was starting some of my research on Thomas's Cherokee Legion. According to what I been able to find Mr. Allison was during the month of September during the year of 1840 in Transylvania County, North Carolina. The Son of Ephraim S. Allison and Elizabeth Zachary Allison. He would marry Sallie L. Bryson the daughter of Seaborn Hugh Bryson and Nancy Adeline Hollingsworth Allison. Mr. Allison was the father of four children John Bryson Allison 1872 - 1941, James Logan Allison 1876 - 1967, Hazzie Allison Caldwell 1885 - 1943, and Samuel B. Allison 1889 - 1962. Now I had someone who said they can't find a pension or any records on Mr. Allison what is known as he was once a part of Thomas's Cherokee Legion and also 38th and 39th North Carolina Infantry Regiments. He would be captured on June 19, 1864, in Marietta, Georgia. My thinking is if he is truly buried at the American Spinning Cemetery and some point in his life he would have had to have worked at the Mill in Greenville, South Carolina. He would outlive his wife about 19 years and he would die on December 2, 1929, in Cashiers Township, Jackson County, North Carolina. Now I was also told there is no death certificate to have been known on Mr. Allison. So I guess what I am trying to ask here for is if someone might possibly be kin to Mr. Allison or know of anything else on him. I would love to see Mr. Allison receive a tombstone no matter where he is buried As I am continuing my research on Thomas's Cherokee Legion hoping to find as many of the veterans as possible. A lot of the veterans graves of this Legion I have come across are not very big as say some of the other Confederate Veterans graves I have visited. I have visited over 300 plus graves of Confederate Soldiers, Generals, Colonels, Surgeons, and politicians.
