Hello, thank you for looking at my post. I am trying to identify the attached CDV's. I believe one may be John Pope (CDV6.jpg) and another John B Gordon (CDV8.jpg). Do you have any insight to who these might be? Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

Sincerely,

Rick

3rd down is a Naval Officer, from the appearance of his hat and what I'm presuming is the Naval Insignia on it; however due to picture quality that's about all I can tell.

4th down appears to be a Post-War image, going off the hair style and general cut of the uniform,.

5th down looks very similar to Pennsylvania Major General Robert Patterson - I've attached a sketch and post-war picture of him.

6th down is Major General Horatio G. Wright; I found a similar image of him elsewhere and have attached it.

It's always a little difficult to tell without larger images? Is there reason beyond similar looks to think these men are Gordon and Pope, like coming from a specific estate or collection? It's just helpful sometimes knowing where they came from.

Spot on about Wright (whose signature or name appears below his image on the photo in question); however, #5 is Maj. Gen. Samuel R. Curtis, Union victor at the Battle of Pea Ridge, Arkansas. The others I don't recognize, but am confident that neither John B. Gordon nor Pope are among them. I believe #4 is a postwar and post-1872 image because it depicts a lieutenant, who during the war would only have worn a single-breasted frock; also, his hair style is of the 1870's period. You are correct about Curtis; a quick check found the picture! Thanks for the correction!
