Both horse heads facing center, large letter Horstmann backmark and wide rim, post war unfortunately.

Buttons can be such a pain. The books aren't always accurate as we have come to find in recent years. Take a look at this. Also there is a difference in years if Philadelphia is Phil or Phila

Sorry for the back and forth. How much did you spend on it? If just a few bucks those are post war prices.

i don't Believe so because the rim
Is wide and I have a set of post war epaulets with this marking as well. The face of the animal on the left is usually facing away from the center on civil war buttons. This will settle it. This is your backmark 1870-1890's

There are other cost friendly items you can get for the price of some buttons as well. Bullets and shell fragments infantry horn insignia, hat cords, even some images if you have patience. GAR items also

Nice find for $20!! You might have a civil war button mixed in somewhere keep looking! Even with post war buttons just one or two can let you break even on what you paid

Yeah. Some WW1 collar disks and all kinds of misc. stuff, you flip a few on ebay. I like to think my pics at least document that particular button for other people down the road.
