I have two plain gold colored buttons. One says Rich Gilt Colour and one says Warranted Rich Orange. The backmarks are coming up in early 19th century buttons and might also be generic Civil War era buttons. Any info is appreciated.
civil war era flat gold buttons (1).webp

Flat buttons predate the war, the back mark also predates the war years
I am seeing them on ebay being posted as 1820s, 1840s for whatever that's worth. I did just buy the McGuinn American Military Button Makers and Dealers book but some of those other titles are a little too pricey.

Mcguinn is good and Albert is affordable too. Tice is a monstrous price but you should be able to get by with Mcguinn. I believe that the warranted orange back mark is British made and civilian. Still very nice buttons you have. You always find good pieces

Actually, I do have Albert and that's an excellent resource. I have McGuinn's Directory of American Military Goods Dealers & makers, 1785-1915. But Tice's Dating Buttons: A Chronology of Buttons Types Makers Retailers & Their Backmarks is just out of reach. I don't get that kind of stuff coming through that I can justify a $500 book.

I wish I knew you were looking for it, I just saw one on eBay. Sold for $170!
