We are still having cool weather at night. This is a tasty soup to have on cool days.

One quart of tomato juice, one cup of corn, one cup of green beans, one cup of peas, one large onion, one cup of raw cabbage, one tablespoon black pepper, one tablespoon of salt, and one cup of small macaroni. Chop onions, then pour tomato juice in a large pot, adding vegetables afterwards, sprinkling salt and pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil, then cook for 20 minutes, serving hot.

This type of soup has always been a standby one for us as with some fresh bread and butter you hhave a rib sticking meal.

I would one substitute the tomato juice and the tomato soup. I am not crazy about either one. Otherwise I like the sound of the soup very much. Tomato soup makes me gag. I will have to think of a good substitute. Thank you for posting the recipe @donna.

You might try chicken broth. Cream soup of some variety might replace the tomato, as I imagine it is just to give some substance to the broth, or you might try cream or canned milk.
