This is Orchard Knob area, this is a view from Ivy and east fifth street. Notice there are no homes in the area.

This area that is part of the Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park was purchased by the federal government in 1894. From this hill inChattanooga, Tennessee General Grant and General Thomas foreseen the battle on November 24. On November 23 the Battle for orchard knob took place were the union pushed the confederates to missionary ridge, and left them entrapped on the ridge.
