Trying to pass the time while I am bored and cooped up at home, so started looking through the box of "junk" items I've accumulated but never identified. I bought these two knives at an antique/junk shop a few years ago for the whopping sum of $5 each. I truly doubt that either is as old as Civil War era, and assumed both were likely made in the first half of the 1900's, but was hoping some of you may be also be bored and willing to chime in. The top knife was obviously made from a file, and appears to retain the original handle from it its original use. Would the style handle help date it at all? The second knife has a blade that appears to be made from a bar of metal, and was made using leather washers and 3 brass spacers. In some ways it reminds me of some of the theater made WW2 knives I seen in the past. Anyone have any thoughts? No matter what and when they are, I figured $5 apiece wound not hurt me much.
