North Georgia MIS Get Together

Our last day was spent at Kennesaw Mt National Park where a friend of mine Sir John is a guide and he gave us a VERY informative day. The museum there has some very rare cannons. The trophy cannon has always intrigued me and is an awesome piece. The best piece in there is the cannon that was at the battle of Atlanta and is in the photo that was take there. The photo was so clear they were able to determine that it is indeed the same cannon. There are also 2 rare CS cannons but unfortunately they were not for sale:nah disagree: The photos I took are cannon heavy but I do love the "Iron Maiden's" @rebel brit @Drew and @Sbc

Tolbert!!!!

Don't really like giving out last names especially when you work for the MINT:nah disagree: which is SAD

After leaving the others at Calhoun and heading to Atlanta Airport we called at the https://boothmuseum.org/ only to find it was closed for a private function. Trying to decide where to go we opted for Allatoona Pass .

From Allatoona we still had some spare time so we went to find the spot where General Polk was killed.
Tell Gill, Great photos as I was to enthralled with the Arty. The only thing I really missed doing was going to the spot where Gen Polk was killed. It is now on private property but Sir John said if we come back he will get us in there.

We located the board on a very busy road with no pull-ins, so with hazard lights on I ran over and took a quick pic.
Not sure if it marks the exact location or if it was behind that house or one across the road, will have to wait till we get together again and take up John's offer.
Our last call before battling the traffic through Atlanta was the Marietta Cemetery, pics to follow.

Was that a Sherman neck tie yall found next to the old RR bed. It's a wonder no one has not recycled it. I was just reading how the right way to destroy a rail was to not only bend it but twist it too. They went on to say the rail should look like a donut when finished. I guess this one was half done.

Last call was a visit to Marietta Confederate Cemetery before catching our flight back to the U.K.
Thank you for these images of the Marietta Confederate Cemetery.

I have a Great Great Uncle buried there.

And while I've never been to the cemetery, I do have friends that live in Marietta.
A few of them have tried to find my GG Uncle's headstone ... but to no avail.
They have provided me with photos, but nothing like the quality of your images.

Thanks again !
