First, let me start by saying if this isn't the right place for this request, I apologize in advance and maybe the moderators can point me in the right direction.

I'm eyeball deep in writing a romance novel (NOT ONE SNICKER FROM ANYONE!) and the hero is a former Confederate cavalry officer from the 1st Kentucky. Knowing that this group had very little--okay, none--official support from their home state, my question is this. When the 1st KY cavalry was mustered into service, other than the traditional CSA buttons and perhaps a few of the block or script "C" buttons, did the 1st KY CAV have its own uniform buttons? I just want to be sure I've got my details correct.

Thank you all in advance.

Lynda
