For sale is a new Mendenhall, Jones, and Gardner rifle.
Early in the war, the state of North Carolina attempted to manufacturer small arms by contracting 5 private firms. The weapon they ordered was an updated version of the M1841 Mississippi Rifle. By the time the state cancelled the contract due to skyrocketing costs in the middle of 1864, the 5 firms had produced around 6,000 arms. Of those private firms, Mendenhall, Jones and Gardner were the most prolific with 2,239 arms produced.
This rifle started out as a Zoli Zouave rifle. It has a new American Walnut Dunlap stock, American made barrel bands, rammer, and butt plate. I have attempted to make the most authentic rifle possible, down to correct 1863-dated stampings, stock cartouche, and pinned sling swivels, just to name a few changes I have made. To see more pictures please go to my website, www.camprandallarmory.com. I am asking $1245 shipped to your door. It would be a perfect arm to carry for the 150th Anniversary of Bentonville.
