In this leadup to the 150th anniversary of the surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia, it seems that everyone has this urge to re-fight the war. So I offer this to the generals and moderators as a quick way for those warring parties to settle their disputes once and for all.

But who would be the referee to whom both sides would agree?

Thank you for posting this, jay gale. Looks like fun.

I'm once again climbing up on my soapbox on what looks like a fun thread but I feel like I need to say this (sorry, guys!)- this forum's a wonderful place with so many wonderful people but I feel like sometimes or at least recently we're all a little too busy shouting at each other to listen- and that can be a scary atmosphere for new posters- which could explain why we haven't had too many chiming in recently. If I may lecture people much older and wiser than me, I think empathy for each others point of view might solve a lot of the problems. We don't necessarily have to agree- after all, what are discussion boards for, right?- but we need to all remember that like it or not- we're in this together both as a nation and as a board. We can agree to disagree as friends, right?

I'm totally stepping out of place here and don't mean to presumptuous, but had to get that off my chest.

Oh, I'm with you.....seems like a lot of shouting going on and not a lot of discussion. Sooooooo, I just thought I'd take a crack at lightening things up a bit

Rock 'em, Sock 'em!! I remember that! :D

Wait a minute... My brother always seemed to win...

when my buddies and I were kids we used to box in the back yard, we'd do it with football helmets on and the first one to knock off the others helmet won. My best friend then (and still my best friend 50 years later) was a lot taller than the rest of us and had really long arms....he would stand off and put one of his gloved hands right on your helmeted forehead and hold you at arms length while he pummeled you with the other glove.....swing as you might, you'd always hit nothing but air when he did that, and he retired undefeated if I remember right (but don't bet on that as I took a lot of shots to the head playing that game).

Eluding to the post above from @hanna260 .......sounds familiar and seems to happens here as well.

jay gale,

You've been on this forum nearly two years and you are surprised at this 'urge?'

Amazing and laudable, but it ain't happening, no matter how neat the toys.

Sincerely,
Unionblue
