My First Cannonball

Picked thus up at an antique store today. They said it was a Civil War cannonball. It's a solid shot. Weighs around 4 pounds. 3 inches in diameter.

A four pound ball is not likely to be Civil War era. That size was more likely 18th or early 19th century.

It's even better if it's Rev War. That makes it the oldest military relic in my collection.

I did weigh it, I don't think the scale I used was very accurate but it said 4 lbs.

Congrats, you really lucked out. You arguably got a much rarer relic because of misidentification. Just a heads up though, they do become addicting to collect

It's just a bottle of colored sand that my older brother won at a carnival. I don't why he kept it, he's weird.

Yes young collector every ACW cannonball collection should also have a Rev War collection like above. To the right of the grenade is a 4 pounder such as you have. Followed by a 6, 8, 12, 18, & 24 pounders.
