muffin top button with pre-1875 eagle ...

I did finally buy that Albert book, a bargain at a hundred, but you can tell its far from comprehensive. Layout is a bit confounding, too.
I dislike all the shorthand abbreviations and lack of time frames. It's great on back marks identification and the way the marks are written out but at least we have it to reference as a starting point

Lets no bust off on Mr. Albert. He was a pioneer and you have to remember that back in the early days there was not a whole lot of info and he was ground breaking in info for button collectors. Tice took his work and added to it. I was fortunate enough to meet and talk with him on several occasions and he was a very nice guy. Of the over 50 books I lost in the 2020 flood the one I miss the most is the one one he signed to for me.

Be nice if there was a way to supplement online the book with pictures. Here's a variant on the GI 104B with a flat border so it's a nice transition between the model 1902 button and the great seal buttons that started in WW1. Also found some ww1 vegetable ivory pocket buttons that are unusually domed. If I'm finding stuff not in the Albert book, what's out there?

No disrespect intended. I know he was the pioneer and that Tice is supplemental to Albert's book. I respect the efforts and knowledge contained in the book but my brain struggles with the layout🤪
