I have read a few threads on the subject of flintlock pistols in the Civil War. I have an 1837 dated A. Waters flintlock pistol, a bit early for me but I couldn't resist it. Lovely condition and fully marked, wood has 2 cartouches and a C stamp. Various other parts are marked with Q and A. Barrel marked US over JCS over P. Are all these markings period inspection marks? I have seen period photos of soldiers armed with single shot percussion (suspect model 1842) but never seen one armed with a flintlock, are there any?
