NF Looking for a Hard-to-Find Book? Post it Here!

Non-Fiction
@Library Lady do you have any idea how successful this thread has been?
I haven't heard that anyone has found a book and passed it on to the person looking for it or that they've bought one from a provided AddALL list. I haven't found any of the books in the usual areas where I look for used books for my Civil War Round Table's book sale for battlefield preservation. If I did, I'd give the poster the right of first refusal. Because I can't embed an Excel spreadsheet and keep the thread tacked somewhere where it would also be easily seen/found, I doubt that many know about it/remember it. I think I'll go back through it and run and post AddALL lists for any single or low-volume requests if copies are available. Thank you for asking!

In the Bloody Railroad Cut at Gettysburg (Hardcover) by Lance Herdegen Willing to pay $50-$75 for a nice copy.
I just ran an AddALL list and specified hardcover. There are many copies at very low prices which bothers me a bit. Many of them are clearly ex-library, and some are Book of the Month Club editions (which is not necessarily a bad thing). You might want to take a look to see if you are comfortable with any of the choices and sellers, but I would read the descriptions very carefully.

"Exploration of the Red River of Louisiana" by Randolph B. Marcy, first edition
I just ran an AddALL list for this title and specified first edition. There appear to be a limited number of copies with each being sold on multiple platforms. I would read the descriptions very carefully as some copies are missing maps and/or plates that were not bound in. Because of age, condition is also likely to be an issue. Some copies could also use a winning lotto ticket to meet the purchase price. :frown:

Look Away!: A Dixie Notebook by James H. Street

Hannibal Hamlin of Maine: Lincoln's First Vice-President by H. Draper Hunt
Here is a current AddALL list for Look Away!: A Dixie Notebook.

And here is one for Hannibal Hamlin of Maine: Lincoln's First Vice-President.

As always, please read the descriptions carefully.

Whoa! Thanks!

If you go to ebay books and type civil war then go to price range and type 100 minimum to 5,000 max, there are LOTS of old out of print books and book sets for sale. And it's fun to look through too if you're not buying or maybe you'll find something you want and put money on the side to raise up in order to purchase them.

The Old North State at War: The North Carolina Civil War Atlas by Mark A. Moore

UNC Press made 1 run of 1,000 copies in 2015 and then took it out of print with no ebook option. I missed a copy on eBay a couple years ago and haven't seen it elsewhere.
Since this thread got bumped, I ran an AddALL list for this atlas to see if anything would come up as nothing had before. There are currently 2 copies available, one for $400 and the other for $2879.82. You might want to buy a Mega Millions lotto ticket today. If you win, you could buy the high-priced copy like it was chump change. :D

Thanks! I used the same website and spent around $100 on my copy months ago when one randomly surfaced. It was worth every penny!
