According to a story in Civil War News, "The famous sword of Gen. Robert E. Lee is making news this week because its finally returning to Lee's place of surrender more than 146 years after the Civil War."

The "146 years" must be a typo unless this article is 10 years old. 2021 would be 156 years.

Either she is very petite or that sword is very big as in huge. Lee must only wore that monster for parades or in the rear for show. Can't see him hauling that around for his day to day business.

It does strike me as odd that it's been "Restored" to replate the gold as well?

It is partly the effect of a wide angle lens. Note how the blade and her left hand appear wider in perspective than her face and the rest of the sword.
