This is a tasty dish to have for supper. Can be served with ham or beef.

Cut small, hard headed cabbage into halves; remove core and harder portions, chop remaining parts finely. Throw this into a kettle of boiling salted water, boil uncovered for 30 minutes; drain in colander. Put cabbage back in saucepan, add two tablespoons of Crisco, one tablespoon of flour; dust flour over cabbage; stir carefully with a wooden spoon and add one half pint of milk, one half teaspoon of salt and one teaspoon of whit pepper. Stand this on back part of stove to simmer 10 minutes; send to table.
