Something is off about this. The 45th Alabama was with S.A.M. Wood's Brigade, Cleburne's Division of the Army of Tennessee at the time. Would not have been involved at Champion Hill. Either he was on detached service in some staff role or was Colonel of the 46th Alabama, which was with Stephen Lee's Brigade of Stevenson's division at the battle.

Interesting that 2nd wife (d 1948) and child Ola (d 1883) were both buried in Ft Lauderdale, Fl., but last child (first of the adult children to die) was buried back in Wetumpka with the rest of the family.

I have often wondered if he was an Alabama officer why did he command Georgia troops at Bentonville?

After Osceola Kyle, Eliza Judson Cabot (Kyle) remarried to Fred Cabot II (a cousin). The family moved to Jupiter, FL where Fred was very active as a founding father of the community until a train accident killed him in 1896.

Ola married John Grant (no relation to the president) and they were pioneers in Hobe Sound, FL. Eliza lived with them. In the 1920s, John, Ola, and Eliza moved to Fort Lauderdale where John took a job with the city marina. Osceola's son, William Cabot Kyle, was already living there. Hence why several family members are buried in Lauderdale.
