Impressions Knapsack and Bedroll?

Would it be overkill to wear a knapsack and bedroll? I've seen a few pictures of soldiers with both. I prefer a bedroll, but, I can't seem to fit all my stuff in it, more specifically my gun cleaning kit, etc and the knapsack is very bulky with my blanket in it. It makes me look like a turtle.

Any input is welcomed and appreciated.

I've used both at times when I know it's going to be chilly at night so I can bring an extra blanket or two. Or if I think I'll need some extra than normal undergarments. I don't find it uncomfortable but it would get quite heavy on a long March.

That's me on the right sporting both a knapsack and a bedroll at an event last winter which was going to be cold with rain and/or snow in the forecast so I was toting 3 blankets, gum blanket, and a shelter half in all that and it really wasn't uncomfortable but I wouldn't want to carry all that more than a mile or two.
