Has we know during the Civil War folks on both sides killed a whole lot of folks on the other side. To a certain extent folks on both sides made up for the loss by making new babies with help from the other side.the other side.
Some examples. Drury Whitehead a veteran of the 1st Alabama Union Cavalry had three sons who married the three daughters of a Mr. Tucker who's three sons had joined the CSA Army and Mr. Tucker hated Mr. Whitehead something fierce. The local Church of Christ in Pinson , Al gets some credit there by preaching reconciliation. Per p.233 Loyalty and Loss Alabama's Unionists in the civil war and reconstruction Margret Storey Louisiana State University Press.
Former Col. Monk 12th Mo State Militia had a daughter who married a former CSA soldier. From the History of Southern Missouri and Northern Arkansas .
A near miss is that on of former President Davis's daughters almost married a Northerner Davis approved but she broke of the weeding and never married anyone. Per Jefferson Davis American by Cooper.
No doubt there are plenty of other examples. Not to say for years afterwards folks from border and Southern states who had fought on both sides didn't kill each other Storeys book and T.J. Stiles "Jesse James the last Rebel" go's into that in detail but some folks from both sides did more then just kiss and make up. Different strokes for different folks.
