I am a direct descendant of all of the below. I also have one additional ancestor that fought for the 29th Maine on the Union side.

Misssissippi Ancestors:
  • Drury William Wall - 14th Mississippi Calvary - Company F - Sergeant (I think they might have been known as Capt. Rhodes Raiders)
  • Morrison James Guy - 9th Mississippi Calvary - Company B - Private
Morrison Guy transferred to the 8th Mississippi (Company I) sometime in late 1864 and surrendered with General Richard Taylor in 1865.

Louisiana Ancestors:
  • Thomas Bridges - 4th Louisiana Infantry - Company A - Corporal
  • James W Morris - 8th Louisiana Infantry - Company G - Private
  • William Stringfield - 3rd Louisiana Calvary (Wingfields) - Company C - Private
  • James Roan Lea - 3rd Louisiana Calvary (Wingfields) - Company A - Private
Please inform me the name of your ancestor in the 29th Maine.

Here's a few more. Sorry about the reflection on the glass. Can't let these guys become casualties of my young children's sticky fingers.

Enjoy!

Finger prints - just add some recent "history" of your nice diorama.
We all know that there are situations where children and grandchildren are not interested in what we create -- if fingerprints are the price of them showing interest, that should be fine!

An impressive outfit from very early in the war, with the infantryman wearing such a pristine uniform and in full kit.
True. I'm sure that "outfit" didn't survive very long before they had to use what was available. But it was issued. I've seen photos of soldiers from the 11th, 13th, and 17th Mississippi Regiments and maybe the 18th wearing uniforms with braid.

Here is one identified as the 13th Mississippi. I found it on a Facebook post, son I'm only showing a bit of it. I would like to post the one from a friend of mine but I don't know if it is public domain or not.

Note this coat is a long coat. The jacket worn by the 17th Mississippi was a short jacket.
