Diorama Two Comrades, Reunited 1/35

Was reading Paul Brueske's book on the 1865 Mobile Campaign and saw this neat picture of the Lady Slocumb sitting out in the wilderness in 1896

This got the creative juices flowing and I thought a similar scene would make a neat diorama. I used an old resin Brooke gun, kit bashed a figure from some plastic WW2 European civilians in 1/35 scale and threw something together.

Great job! That opens up a whole world of possible dioramas. Is that reunion badge based on a real example? I can't wait for Mobile 2015 that shows you struggling to attach the cannon tube to the top of your subcompact car so you can haul it off, to a museum or to a friend who will mount it on a carriage so you can fire it off each morning.

Thank you! The reunion badge isn't based on any particular example that I know of. I tried a few different designs and settled on this one because I thought it looked neat.

Very clever and creative work - outstanding detailing.

Another similar suggestion along a nostalgic and poignant theme. Showing a lone elderly veteran standing at, and looking over, the battlefield grave of a dead friend/comrade (kia) and in deep contemplation/reflection.

Unique theme for a diorama.
Did you sculpt the figure from scratch? It looks like plastic.

Relic hunters get a thrill out of digging up relic but it doesnt compare with the feelings an old Veteran like this would experience.

Thanks! The figure was "kitbashed" from a few different figures. His body and legs come from a WW2 civilian, his arms and head come from two other figure pieces I had lying around, and his hat is from a 1/35 Confederate soldier. Took a lot of sanding and filling of gaps to make this little plastic Frankenstein look somewhat seamless.
