Tell me more! J.D. Greene socket bayonet scabbard?

Hey gang,

I'm curious about something. A gentleman is selling a J.D. Greene socket bayonet online, and it also has a scabbard that seems to fit it from the photos I've seen. However, in a few of my reference books, they don't seem to mention a scabbard for this bayonet (my most recent one by Paul Kiesling even goes so far as to say "no scabbard issued", though that might just be regarding the example he has in his book).

Does anyone know if a scabbard was ever issued, or if any are known to survive today? I am being a tad skeptical.

99.9% of bayonets were issued with a scabbard. The Greene was no different. It had a scabbard.

Thanks for the speedy reply! I'll keep this in mind.

I'm also slightly worried about potential fakes, but the bayonet and scabbard seem like the real McCoy.
