I do think his hands are blurred and not gloved. Left pinky ring wouldn't be exposed if under gloves, in my opinion.

I believe his hands are gloved. When one clicks on the photo to enlarge it three faint ridges run parallel on the back of his left hand between his fingers. If we compare this to a photo of Brevet General Charles Hoyt we see the same three lines. Also the wrinkles on Fry's left index finger and right thumb seem similar to those on Hoyt's gloved hands.

This is an excellent picture with gloved hands. Had to be thin gloves to mold so smoothly to the skin. Bravo!
