I've never seen this picture

Something about this screams "Mississippi" to me. I don't know why. It may even be Yankees.

It looks like a Napoleon to me.

The guy on the right is wearing overalls. I didn't know they existed at that time. My dad would have been sporting them then, too I guess.

I want to say it's the Washington Artillery in New Orleans, but I don't remember. I have seen it in a book, but can't quite put my finger on it.

It's been posted here before although information on it is a bit sketchy although it was almost certainly taken around Charleston: http://www.loc.gov/pictures/item/2015646711/

Seen some speculation that it is possibly pre-war as stereoviews like this had been made for a few years before the war by local photographers in Charleston.

Probably an Arty Co. Belonging to a State Militia, with a Mexican War- surplus gun. Likely pre-war, and only fired on holidays. Wonder how long those boys were smiling when they had to report "Present in Good Order" in 1861?

Funny, the "ceremonial gun" today parked in front of the VFW hall where I grew up.... Its an M60 tank.
