I recently purchased the Civil War dug bullet on ebay, but it's not lead. It's shiny at the base like its iron or steel. It also has a bluing color. Is this a real Civil War bullet? See Pics.

I'm not sure anyone can say from the photos, but an expert might prove me wrong any moment now. I will say that lead can appear shiny, and it can oxidize to white, and it can sometimes have a bluish cast. I think you have a "real" bullet. Whether it's old or whether is was recently cast and then artificially oxidized, I can't say. Wish I could be more helpful.

Dug bullets oxidize white over time in the ground. Then when you carry them around ore cut on them the original lead color shows. It is indeed a CW bullet.
