Got this bayonet just now and was wondering if it was possibly an original.

How would I tell if it was original or not?

Pretty sure its a Springfield m1873 for the trapdoor .45-70.

Socket bayonet for use on the .45–70 Caliber U.S. Rifle M1873 (Trapdoor Springfield) rifle.
The beautiful high-polish blue finish illustrates the painstaking workmanship exhibited on these rifles and bayonets. The socket length is 3.00 in. (76 mm.).

Cheers

btw, first guess in order of my thoughts, machining, length, width, marking...............and then checking my guess on a pretty well known bookmark. I'm often wrong but this time I might just be right. I don't know if the cadet length holds water as propriety to cadets but they are a smidge shorter, with the various National Guard units having the rifles around well into the 20th century.

Plus, they are uber common, even if reproduced. A reproduction would likely have its reproduction scabbard with it.
