Interpreting an Unidentified Photograph

I've seen numerous threads where forum members post an unidentified photograph wanting to know if there is anyway to identify the soldier, his regiment or if he is a Union/Confederate soldier. Granted it helps if you have a knowledge of uniforms. With that said I thought I would share a video by Rod Coddington on how to go about deciphering want you see in a photograph.
