Hunley movie

I have this movie in my down-load files and have watched it a few times.I pretty much always enjoy it(I also am a fan of Armand Asanti),and really ,imo,it sticks enough to history without being out n out misleading, and honestly, you lost me with "political statement",as I dont see anything really agenda-driven in the movie.

The Hunley...how does that movie end???
Is that the one where Rose won't move her cute little butt over on the giant door, so Jack could escape the freezing cold Carolina waters???

The only objection I had to the film was Beauregard's(Donald Sutherland) haircut. Made him look like a pimp.

It's been a long time since I've seen it... I mostly recall my reaction to it, which was "Meh," but it's possible that I just wasn't that interested in the subject at the time. I'll probably need to re-watch it.

It is very outdated considering the sub itself was recovered after the movie was made. Still, I thought the movie wasn't bad for a "made-for-TV" history type. A remake of it in the next few years could be interesting, once it is determined if the torpedo detonation sank the vessel.

C'mon, Sutherland often looks like a pimp in movies (intentionally or not!) That said, he's an interesting character to watch and his voice has a quality that hooks you whether he is playing a good guy or a bad guy...or something in between.

I dunno, maybe its cause I'm sick, and not really in the best of moods, but it was just, EH... I didn't care for the portrayal of Dixon as a drunk, death seeking, tortured soul... I know, dramatic license, but it just seemed hokey.. I was impressed by the depiction of the H.L. Hunley itself, I don't doubt they came pretty close to it at the end.... but it seemed overly melodramatic, and well... forced. I just kinda rolled my eyes in the scene at the theater when he turns panic into patriotism by having the band play Bonnie Blue Flag.. Just didn't really care for it... I thought the sub was the star... naturally, and that I thought was very very good.... of course, they played up the Blue Light thing... and it was interesting to see the bullet pierce the deadlight in the fore conning tower, and strike Dixon...

And then maybe it was knowing all that has been discovered since the recovery that had me going NO NO NO NO NO!!
Then again, maybe its cause I am under the weather.

I know I disliked it less than Ironclads. But conversely, I also liked it less than Ironclads. I think I was just pretty much like "Eh" as well.

The massive piece of jewelry in her pocket that had saved her life in a previous firefight at Shiloh would have takn them both down in that case lol

I think she is related to The Howells from Gilligan's Island. Who takes all that luggage for a three hour tour anyway? :giggle:
