Though they were never suggested to have been connected, with today's focus on shared universes, I always wondered about a theoretical one for Ted Turner's ACW movies. I have called it the Turnerverse, or the Turner Cinematic Universe (TCU).

Here's a timeline. I decided not to include The Rose and the Jackal and Ironclads because they always say "the series started with Gettysburg", so they're probably Non-Canon. I also included Last Stand at Saber River. It's a Western but with a plot related to the ACW.
  • Gods and Generals (April 1861-May 1863)
  • Gettysburg (July 1863)
  • The Hunley (August 1863-Febuary 1864)
  • Andersonville (June-September 1864)
  • Last Stand at Saber River (March-April 1865)
  • The Day Lincoln Was Shot (April 1865)
If only there was a Last Full Measure to complete it...

I would want to see "The Last Full Measure" for sure.

And - for me - only if Ted invests some real money in it (he's got plenty) and hires somebody - anybody - other than Maxwell.
James Mangold is my favorite modern guy.

Only if it was more like Gettysburg and less like Gods & Generals.
Agreed. I doubt it'll ever be made. We're lucky we got Manhunt. I still haven't seen Emancipation.

Ya' gotta include Rose and the Jackal and Ironclads. They're the MOST Turner of the verse of them all. Fit right in with Gods and Generals. Gettysburg is the outlier. It was an ABC Television production before it was dropped by the network and picked up by Turner.

Maybe one day the whole shebang will be re-edited into "Turnerverse: The Fan Cut." For example, where Rose and the Jackal covers the intrigue behind the Union defeat at Bull Run... the battle scene from G&G could be cut into it, etc.

And while Rose and the Jackal is all about the Union intelligencer Pinkerton, Gettysburg is, after all, about the Confederate scout Harrison. A fan Turnerverse fan recut might include Pinkerton's dramatic splashing around in the Potomac from R&J in Gods & Generals...

At this point they'd need to recast the entire thing to do The Last Full Measure. Maybe they can find an appropriately aged John Bell Hood this time around. Stephen Lang is at the right age + can grow a good enough beard for the big role. Bring him back so he can complete his transformation from Jackson to Pickett to Bobby Lee.

I would like a totally recast one, just to retcon G&G.

I remember @Irishtom29 saying G&G is so bad "Ed Wood couldn't fix it". To tell you the truth, I actually do enjoy Plan 9 From Outer Space more than G&G! At least, I find Duke Moore's John Harper more fascinating than Stephen Lang's Jackson.

Doesn't matter who is cast. In the Lucasfilm sytle re-edits of the future Turververse they'll just digitally insert AI faces from photographs on the characters in the movies.

You dare blaspheme Lucasfilm?!

Never! In fact the Turner re-edits could take a page from Lucasfilm and cast a digital rendering of Peter Cushing... Maybe as President Lincoln in digital re-edits of Rose and Jackal, Ironclads, and Day Lincoln Was Shot...
