How Many Rounds at Gettysburg

Hello all,

Gettysburg is going to be my first major event, and I was just curious how many rounds I should expect to use at an event of this size. I know there can be a lot of variation from person to person, depending on how fast you load and fire and whether or not you tend to take a lot of hits. I'm not at the point yet where I load fast enough to qualify as a real powder burner, and I don't have a problem taking a hit or anything like that.

I've got 400+ rounds for the first Gettysburg, so I think I'm covered there, but I'd like some input on how much I should expect to need for the second event, since I'm going to both and will want to roll some rounds during that intervening week. Thoughts?

That would emptying out your cartridge box for every one of ten battles...400 rounds, I doubt I use that many in a year doing park service historic weapons demos.

I figured I was in okay shape, but one of the guys in my unit said we were all told to bring 400 rounds just for BGA, so I was a little concerned, especially since I probably won't have time to get powder and roll more rounds in between the two events. 400 seemed like I could take on the whole Reb army, but I'm new to this, so I wasn't sure. Of course, I can always take a hit if it looks like I'm running low.

Yeah...400 might be much... I do plan to have about 150 just in case. I also only plan to use about 10, then turn a run like a coward
