I'm trying to compile a list of all the Confederate units that recruited primarily from the Houston/Harris County, Texas area. Thus far, I have:
- Companies A-D, 2nd Texas Infantry - "San Jacinto Guards," "Confederate Guards," "Bayland Guards," "Confederate Grays"
- Company A, 5th Texas Infantry - "Bayou City Guard"
- Company K, 8th Texas Cavalry - "Tom Lubbock Guards"

I know there must be others, it's just a matter of finding them.

@AUG, would you care to weigh in here?

I have also read that the 10th Texas Infantry and 2nd Texas Cavalry recruited men from Harris County, but I have not been able to find a listing of companies from these regiments. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Some notes on the above listing:
- "1st Company F, 3rd Battalion, Texas Artillery" is the same as Company F, 1st Texas Heavy Artillery, as the 3rd Battalion later became the 1st Regiment;
- "Company H, Timmons' Regiment, Texas Infantry" will contain many of the men from the companies of Waul's Legion, as the twelve companies of the Legion were reorganized in late 1863 as "Timmons' Texas Infantry."

I just knew that @Stryker65 would come in with some helpful information in a thread about unit history.

I had been looking for something like this. Marty Robbins' cowboy grandfather Robert "Texas Bob" Heckle grew up in Houston and his obituary referred the regiment he was in during the war as the "First Texas".
