Help!

I've been looking at my great grandfather's civil war records…have found some but still missing a lot. His name was James Mathias Monroe, although he used Mathias as his first name. He lived in the Old Mines/Potosi/DeSoto area near St. Louis.


He mustered in at Benton Barracks into the B Telegraph Corps, Missouri Volunteers in 1861.

I would like more information about! Benton Battacks, the B Telegraph Corps, and the Missouri Volunteers.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.
