Help with rifle ID

Does anyone recognized this rifle? This image in an early war clear glass ambrotype of a Confederate soldier who is wearing an eggshell C.S. buckle. Also has a really nice bowie. Trying to ID the state of the soldier. Cannot make out any of the buttons.

I agree with Jobe. It's a nicely appointed rifle, too. In addition, what I can see of the knife appears to be of high quality and fancy appointments. I speculate that this young man commissioned the photo portrait upon his enlistment. I'm not sure whether he intended to equip himself for war or whether he just had good taste when selecting from the photographer's props. It seems reasonable to me that he was a somewhat well to do young man who actually owned the rifle and knife.
