After lots of Googling I can't seem to find what these rank abbreviations stood for and would appreciate being educated:

A.I.G.
A.A.A.G.

I'd also appreciate knowing what the duties of those positions were. Thanks in advance.

Excellent question. I've been curious about those from time to time, as well. I have never been industrious enough to search for answers. I'll try to follow along with you.

The AIG is either acting or Assistant Inspector General whose duties were to inspect various aspects of the army depending on his assignment. If was with the medical corp he would inspect hospital etc,

Yes...in addition the IG or, usually an AIG, was the army's detective. Not only did the IG's office inspect, but also investigated.
But as you wrote, this would depend on assignment at the time.
