Help to Identify a threaded spike found a Confederate Camp

Can anyone identify this threaded spike? It was found in a Confederate camp in Central Mississippi. It is about ten inches long, and the cap end is threaded like it was meant to be screwed on to something. Any help will be most appreciated!

The point has some bends in it. Maybe opposite end of flagpole to be jammed into the ground. A guess

A lightning rod used as a flagpole topper?

Lightning rod tip. Have seen these at flea markets and antique shows. Just search on Google. there is one on eBay now in brass.

I have seen a different style of lighting rod tip show up in artifact collections published in books listed as flagpole toppers, hence my guess.

It doesn't seem to be rusty enough to be 160 years old.

Perhaps it's not made of iron or steel. Maybe it has a high copper content to improve conductivity.

My thought was some sort of pike.
