I'm trying to ID this top from a fuse (right side of pic), which my dad had ID'd as from a Mullane shell, but I can't find any reference to what that fuse looks like. To me, from looking at references, it looks like a Hotchkiss percussion fuse, but I'm no expert. The top edges are rounded.

It would help to see a side view of the fuse. Looking in "Artillery Fuses of the Civil War ( Jones) based on Page 67 it looks like it a screw anvil from a CS West Point type fuse. The screw was kept partially loose as a safety, it was screwed in just before firing.

Yeah sorry this stuff is at my parent's house so I only had access to my Google photos. The screw part is broke off, so it's just the very top.

Thanks!!! My dad had a lot of reference, but for some reason he doesn't have any showing fuses. There are several books on shells, but where they show the fuse, it's usually side on, so it didn't help in this case.
