The other Fort Ward

Looking for some photos of Fort Ward is St Marks, Florida. It was build onnthe ruins of San Marcos de Apalache, a Spanish fort. It remained in Confederate hands through the war.

As it was earthen and I know first hand how that area of Florida takes a hurricane, I'm sure its not in the best shape. I can't find any contemporary photos online, honestly I can't even find a simple sketch as what it looked like from above. No engineering design, nothin'.

I can't really make ot back down home tocheck ot lut for myself right now. Anything would help. Thanks in advance.

The large marine hospital was built in the antebellum period in part with stone from the old Spanish fort. The present day park interpretive center sits on the spot of the old Marine hospital.
