I was hoping someone could shed some light on what this is. It's about an inch and a half wide.. appears to be made of pot metal , and has the Massachusetts state motto on one side, and possibly a black man on the other.. Any help would be appreciated.

Interesting medal as it is not a known CW medal issued by the state of Mass. With its size I'm leaning that its part of a Mass GAR ribbon.

I looked for awhile, I saw some similar Mass. GAR medals, but nothing exactly like the one pictured. The same metal, and the design on the back the same, but I saw several different fronts.

I guess that makes sense, since it's the Massachusetts seal that's on a lot of them. Do you think that is a black man on the other side of mine? Also, I don't really see many in this type of pot metal.
