A mere technicality. He could say the Yankees shot Jim, thus Anse naturally had to shoot them both. The Yankees remain villains, Anse is a hero, and Jim gets conveniently shuffled off this mortal coil. What's not to love?

Then again, without Jim Vance and the shifty lawyer, this series probably lasts 30 minutes.



He didn't look like the dog-eating sort. Seemed like a normally calm fellow who smoked a pipe. Those types are usually fond of dogs.

It's occurred to me that the Hatfields and McCoys were sort of the 19th century version of the Jerry Springer Show. Jerry would've gone nuts over that chick and Vance whipping one another with cow tails. Admit that would have driven ratings through the roof!

Johnse seemed to be a lot more interested in the girls than the fued, Anse sure had a problen on his hands with him.

Well, to be fair, the second one was nuts to begin with. The first one, however, got completely hosed by absolutely everyone except the old lady.

A good warning label for Johnse would've been "KICKS DOGS."

Yes, I did! It was like deja vu. That was the turning point in Anse's life, that's what stopped his anger and turned him to God.

Building on famous family feud, Hatfield-McCoy descendants sought for reality TV show

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Television producers are looking for descendants of the once-feuding Hatfield and McCoy families to take part in a reality show that will be filmed in West Virginia.

Bill Richardson is a West Virginia University Extension agent who is involved with casting for the show. He told the Charleston Gazette (http://bit.ly/LaYnHP) that the show will set five to 10 members of each family against one another in a competition to create businesses around their history.

If selected, cast members must prove their lineage to a member of the Hatfield or McCoy clans through a family tree. The warring families were known for violent clashes during the Civil War era.

Richardson says the show's production company has produced shows and documentaries for A&E, the National Geographic Channel, the History Channel, Syfy and MTV.
