Happy St. Patrick's Day to you. I didn't go to the parade in Boston this year. William Bulger, president of the state senate, used to have a breakfast where he mocked his fellow law makers on TV that was good for laughs. His notorious brother is probably better known.

Hurdle races and ditch jumping were the principal amusements, and after seeing one colonel and two enlisted men fatally injured, I returned to camp, satisfied to take my chances with the rebel shot and shell." I am of Irish descent although I don't consider myself Irish. Would be a bit silly since my ancestors showed up here in the 1700s but I do bring them out and dust them off once a year. Here's to the Nolands from Tipperary and the O'Galahers from the Bay of Donnegal.
