Gun Barrel????

Found this the other day along with a musket barrel . The 2 were about 10ft apart. But i have looked and researched and cannot find a civil war era gun or more modern gun barrel like this. It messures right at .50 and clearly see the rifling and front sight. Just stumped any help would be appreciated.. thanls

It appears to be the barrel from a breech-loading carbine. I'm sure someone will be able to identify it.
Where was this found?
 
Only took a second to realize it was indeed a Hall rifle or carbine, as the Hall's all have a very distinctive barrel/breech with the hall hump on each side. That extra metal reinforced the breech against the pressures exerted by the igniting rounds. Although yours is apparently from a rifle, here's a view of a Hall carbine which clearly shows that distinctive Hall form

I just saw your other post. Thanks for the pictures of the musket.
I'm still curious about what state they were found in. :)
