Yes, that was it, thanks for the correction Bee.
Oh, grits is very hard to find around Gettysburg and if you do find it, it seems they load it down with sugar.....yikes! I need my butter and salt please.

The Holiday Inn had a very nice plate of grits for their buffet breakfast -- no sugar added! One of my employees is from Louisiana, and he got me started on grits (he probably would not visit anywhere that did not serve grits)

Interesting thread.

Although I've never been to Gettysburg, the town is obviously very smart to be Confederate friendly and Union friendly.
It' not a matter of Blue & Gray . . . but green.

I can only relate to Vicksburg . . . it's very Yankee friendly ! :D
Again . . . it's all about the color of money.

Regarding the grits . . . cheese grits are the way to go.

No sugar, no cheese. I will admit I do have some instant grits on the shelf, but they are the red eye gravy and bacon flavor ones.
How my grandmother could make some cat head biscuits and real red eyed gravy. My taste buds are drooling now.

How to eat grits:

Place your grits on your plate.
Take your fork in your hand.
Scrape the grits into the garbage can.
Get yourself some real breakfast.

Only the unknowledgeable eats plain grits. Everyone else makes them nice.

No wonder. Grits are a basic food group south of Maryland - as they should be.

Bite your tongue or maybe in this case your keyboard, Cash. Sometimes I just gotta shake my Viginia head at the gastronomically challenged.:hungry:
