Lieutenant in the Louisiana Navy, given command of a Cotton-Clad gun boat named the General Quitman
During the fall of New Orleans, Grant had the General Quitman burned rather than allow it to be handed over to the Union
1863: Court martialed for disobeying orders, for actions at Battle at Fort Burton, but he was acquitted
1st Lieutenant & Executive Officer onboard C.S.S. Missouri based on the Red River near Shreveport, Louisiana
