I was wondering if anyone is going to Mansfield civil War show in May? I could go Saturday or Sunday or both days. Here is an image from thier web site to show you what you are missing.

What weekend is it? That sounds like fun.

750 tabled full of stuff. Many arms and Civil War photos and paper. The amount of rare Civil War books has decreased. But still plenty of books and such.

American Revolution to World War Two reenactors. It is also an artillery show.

It will be on May 5th and 6th. My wife is pushing me to say over night but I am not sure I want to do two days. It is about a 4 hour drive and I can get there early enough to see all I want to see.

The artillery firing is interesting. But I will likely just buy some books. Rare books are a bit costly so I may just buy Civil War equipment and uniform books. In the end I usually add a few Military Images Magazines I do not have, especially ones will interesting uniform photos.

My wife suggested I take a set amount in cash and leave my credit card at home. What is the fun it that?

It's a 4 hour run from where I live too and I am already going to the Baton Rouge CWRT Symposium the weekend before. Might not make it to Mansfield. Summers can be long in the doghouse. :D

Yes, I'll be going again this year. It's about a 2 and a half hr. drive for me. Just hope the weather is decent this year. Didn't enjoy the cold and rain last year. I'll be looking for WWII items this year as I have moved away from ACW gear. Lots to see , well worth the trip.

Just a 2 hour drive for me. I'll be there Saturday morning. I hope to find a GAR member medal that fits my limited budget. Also need a .69 caliber Tower bullet for my Confederate bullet collection. I have usually been able to find what I look for at Mansfield.

Have you ever visited the Michigan GAR Museum in Eaton Rapids? It has limited hour of operation but we'll worth the trouble to get to see. The GAR Axillary items are of particular interest.

Being an old Trans-Mississippi buff, I too was confused at first. The Mansfield Major Bill is talking about is in Ohio, NOT Mansfield, Louisiana where the Battle of Mansfield took place.
For sure not going there. :D

Mansfield Ohio right?

You started the thread. Are you talking about hats in Ohio or battle ground in Louisiana?

You'll find some hats in the latter place and a lot more than that. Others will I'm sure appreciate clarity.
