It really needs an "umlaut" over the "u".

It's a recipe to re-create an ancient Viking feast beverage.

4 quarts dry red wine (burgundy preferably)
1 quart dry white wine (zinfandel?)
1 pint blackberry brandy
1 cup white sugar
6 sticks cinnamon
12 whole cloves
1/8 teaspoon allspice
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
2 oranges
1 lemon

12-quart (or larger) pot.

Pour red wine into pot and begin gentle warming. Add sugar and spices. Continue heating gently and stirring constantly until sugar is dissolved. Add brandy and white wine. Add one of the oranges sliced up, and all of the lemon, sliced. Steep for one hour over low heat.

Serve hot and garnish with orange slices.

Modernized Viking Recipe, so "Modern Ancient"

so, now we'll need a recipe for "headache remedies"

Thanks - might have to try that for a party.

BTW, white zinfandel is not "dry" white wine (dry means basically not sweet; i.e. low sugar content). Best bet would be Sauvignon Blanc but some Pinot Grigio or Viognier varietals would do in a pinch.
