My Great Great Great Grandfather David Campbell was with the 5th Virginia company E Infantry. Looking at records a few years ago I was led to believe that he did not participate at Gettysburg. The site that I seen projected he got back into service in late August. After discovering fold 3 I have to question if the site was wrong with there projection. I'm not a expert by any means and would appreciate the help of members if you have time to view some things I have found. I discovered he was Present for the company Muster Roll for July & August. He was paid on June 30, 1863 & was not paid the previous 4 muster roll calls while at a hospital. It makes me think he was in camp and got paid a few days before the battle of Gettysburg. He was at a hospital not very far away. Opinion on if you think he fought or if I am just over eager would be appreciated. Thanks, Josh
