Found a couple pics from the 125th. Me (13 year old drummer) and my buddy David, and a unit pic. Probably half the guys in this pic were a couple years out from getting to go play sandmen in Kuwait then Iraq

I think most guys spent 4 or 5 days at this event. I was there for a solid 5 or 6. Africa hot.

I'm the kneeling corporal in the right front rank with his sleeve pushed up. It's not a period photo - just what happens when you take a picture of a late 20th century b/w photo in poor lighting!

I was there with Holmes' Brigade from Missouri, with additional friends from Illinois, Iowa, Arkansas, Kansas, Colorado and Oklahoma who fell in with us. We had enough to form two companies. Here I am leading one of the companies as part of the Iron Brigade during the first day reenactment:

Remember when that marching line of Black Hats just kept going and going and going? Didn't we all feel 9 feet tall that day?

Our unit above got folded in with the bucktails. I think I may still have mine in a box somewhere. We were a mutt group of the older Regular Army guys from Ft. Riley, Ft. Hood, Germany, and then my young buddies from Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi. We tried to max three or four events a year. Pleasant Hill and Vicksburg were always on the list (no Vicksburg in 88)

We did indeed, at least until we had to high-tail it back into the woods!
