Gettysburg 2024

Well, gonna start reserving the hotel for the anniversary now...hopefully this is early enough lol

any chance I might see some of you there? i know it's early but still : )
I'll be there some of the time. I don't expect the crowds to be as great as they were for last year's 160th anniversary.

Stryker, I'm just across the Delaware line from you in Ridley Twp not far from Ridley High FB field. I may get over depending on dates, times etc, especially if there's a crowd of us.
infomanpa myself and a few others mentioned the possibility recently of meeting somewhere like the ABC Restaurant (big place) on Steinwehr Ave in Gburg at some time in the future.

My unit is going for the reenactment.

I will be there with the unit for July 27 & 28: Gettysburg Artillery Living History. (Gettysburg, PA) National Park Service event at Pitzers Woods. Firing demonstrations and camp life.

I'm going to try to make it to at least one of the days but it will depend on my work schedule. It doesn't help that my 2 week vacation begins the following week so my schedule the first week of July is up in the air.

I just returned from Gettysburg. I hope that you enjoy yourself as much as I did. As you may already know, Little Round Top is open now.

I've been out there every week for the last month or so, and it seemed to me that this anniversary (161st) has been kind of low key, especially compared to last year's. It's a numerical "off" year, I guess. But there were still plenty of visitors around, especially with the reopening of LRT, and there are lots of good programs and events to check out, everything from watching the movie Gettysburg under the stars on Seminary Ridge to multiple events with the Adams County Historical Society and the American Battlefield Trust. Sometimes, not as crowded is a good thing. 🙂
